Rich Hart Scores  Double Win at International Speech and Table Topics Division Contest

Congratulate to Rich Hart on winning both the last Saturday afternoon in the International Speech and Table Topics Contest. All of us in the club know that Rich is a fantastic speaker and it is wonderful to see him recognized outside the club. Rich represented our club in the competition in place of Jim Dawson who was unable to attend.

Let’s get out and support Rich as he now participates in the Division D Contest being held 9:00 AM Saturday March 24th at the Cobb EMC

Jim Dawson Sweeps Club Table Topics & International Speech Contest

Jim Dawson placed first in both the Table Topics and International Speech Contest held by the club on January 18th. Eric Holtzclaw placed second in Table Topics and Rich Hart placed second in the International Speech Contest.

It turned out to be a wonderful contest with some very interesting answers to the Table Topics Question: What will your life be like in the year 2032, or 20 years from now? Jim hopes to be resting in peace, while Eric wants to have everything be run by technology, Rich Hart will still be body building and Mack Miller hopes to still be kicking the can around the block and be happy about his accomplishments.

In the International Speech Contest, we had some very interesting speeches: Ernie Pollitzer went first with his plea for all of us to vote YES for the SPLOST referendum coming up in June of this year; Jim Dawson inspired us with his journey towards higher education and asked us all to have an Undying Belief in ourselves; Judi Rogers gave us a very interesting view on What are you Worth? in conjunction with your body parts – kidneys were $92K and the heart was the most valuable at approximately $86K; Rich Hart gave an inspirational speech about the Intention of Life and challenged us all to strive for the best in our lives.

Congratulations to all of our winners and participants!   Please come and cheer on Jim Dawson at the Area Contest taking place on Saturday, February 4th at the Mansour Center at Noon.   Jim will be taking on the winners from the other clubs in our area to go on to compete at the Division Level.

Thanks to Charlene Anderson for serving as Contest Master organizing and running the contest.

District 14 Humorous Speech Contest

Congratulations to Presidents Club member Susan McMullen, 2nd place winner at the Toastmasters Fall Conference, District 14 HUMOROUS SPEECH CONTEST.  Susan really had the audience of over 350 Toastmasters from throughout Georgia in stitches and sitting on the edge of their seats as Susan took them with her on a ‘fear-filled’ trek across the parking lot in her speech entitled “Fear.”  The other nine contestants gave their all with very funny tales of riding along in a UPS truck, deciphering a toddler’s exclamations, using table topics to foil persistent telemarketers, and much more.  Congratulations to the top 3 Humorous Contest Winners (pictured with Roy Ganga, District 14 Governor:

1st Place: Jean Raines (left)
2nd Place: Susan McMullen (center)
3rd Place: Beverly Peace-Kayhill (right)

This is Susan’s first experience competing at the District level; we are proud of her and inspired by her success.  She aspires to become a professional speaker with a focus on helping caregivers take care of themselves.  Susan has been a member of the President’s Club for almost two years and serves as the club Vice President of Education.

Division D Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contest

President’s Club members, Susan McMullen (l) and Tom Nixon (r), represented the club at the Division D “Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contest”.  Susan took top prize with her very funny speech titled “Fear” and will compete again in the District contest at the Georgia fall conference. Tom gave a brilliant evaluation but the judging gave the prize to another club member. Congratulations to both Susan and Tom!
